Preheated Composite as a Luting Agent:
Improving Marginal Seal in Indirect Restorations

Presenter: Marco Carvalho, DDS, MSc, PhD
Date & Time: Monday, June 15, 2026 · 07:00 PM EST

Webinar Description:

Preheated restorative composite has been proposed as an alternative luting material, offering superior mechanical and physical properties. However, concerns remain regarding its handling characteristics, including increased film thickness, seating difficulty, and its reliance on light-curing. While some studies report thicker films with preheated composites, others demonstrate acceptable seating when appropriate materials, equipment, and techniques are employed.

This lecture will address the limitations of conventional resin cements and explore the rationale for using preheated composite as a luting agent. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based material selection, necessary equipment, and a step-by-step clinical workflow designed to optimize marginal adaptation while minimizing drawbacks. Attendees will gain practical guidance to enhance the clinical performance and longevity of indirect restorations through improved marginal quality.
