AMED Europe Advanced Dental Microscope
Ergonomics and Endo/ Resto Immersion Training

PATHWAY TO AMED CERTIFICATION

The two days hands-on immersion

Day 1: Lectures & Demos • Day 2: Hands-On Training

This session will demonstrate how implementing a systematic approach to positioning and posture, grounded in ergonomic principles, can enhance clinical practice, practitioner well-being, and outcomes in microscope dentistry.

Course Objectives:

  • Apply ergonomic principles to enhance efficiency in dentistry.
  • Utilize ergonomic concepts for microscope use to maintain optimal posture in all quadrants of the mouth throughout procedures.
  • Demonstrate proper use of dental microscopes in accordance with ergonomic guidelines.
  • Adopt a correct sitting posture and use ergonomic stools in the operatory.
  • Demonstrate correct mirror handling and positioning techniques during dental procedures.
  • Identify the ergonomic benefits of using a microscope in dental practice.
  • Implement strategic patient positioning to optimize ergonomic outcomes.
  • Demonstrate four-handed dentistry techniques utilizing the microscope.
  • Apply strategies to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, including taking microbreaks and stretching throughout the workday.

Course Highlights:

  • Dental professionals experience a high incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. One significant advantage of the surgical microscope is its ability to enhance ergonomics by improving working posture. However, the ergonomic benefits of the microscope are often underutilized due to insufficient information and limited knowledge regarding its proper implementation.
  • Upon completion of the training, dentists will be able to use the microscope with proper ergonomic techniques in their clinical practice. They will acquire skills in correct operator, patient, and instrument positioning, as well as strategies for involving assistants in ergonomic practices that benefit both the dentist and the assistant. Additionally, participants will understand how optimal microscope positioning can positively affect practitioner health and the quality of clinical care. The course will provide methods for working without pain and reducing the physical stress commonly experienced in the dental profession.
  • Participants will be able to use the microscope efficiently and fluidly, performing daily clinical procedures with greater predictability by fully utilizing the benefits of magnification and proper ergonomic postures as taught in the course. Participants must submit short videos for a pre-course video assessment, along with a questionnaire for an individual ergonomic analysis.
