Coronectomy of Lower Third Molars in Combination with Vital Pulp Therapy
Presenter: Dr. Gergely Benyőcs
Date & Time: Wednesday, August 14 · 8:45 PM EST
Duration: 40 minutes
Lecture Description:
In this thought-provoking session, Dr. Gergely Benyőcs explores a novel, evidence-based approach to third molar management: the combination of coronectomy and vital pulp therapy (VPT). Designed for clinicians seeking to reduce the risk of inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) injury while preserving tooth vitality, this lecture provides a clinical and theoretical foundation for a minimally invasive technique with promising outcomes. Dr. Benyőcs will walk through the indications and contraindications for coronectomy, review core principles of VPT, and explain the rationale for integrating the two procedures. Through detailed case presentations and analysis of current literature, attendees will gain insight into patient selection, surgical protocols, and post-op management strategies that support predictable clinical results.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify appropriate indications and contraindications for coronectomy combined with VPT in lower third molars
- Understand the goals and techniques of vital pulp therapy and how they align with coronectomy
- Evaluate the clinical benefits of this combined approach, including reduced IAN injury risk and maintained pulp vitality
- Apply a step-by-step protocol to real-world cases, including surgical planning and patient management
- Analyze clinical outcomes, manage complications, and consider future implications for practice and research
