Dr. Reed is on faculty at a teaching hospital and two dental schools. Most of his time is devoted to teaching residents through NYU Langone Hospitals – Brooklyn. There he is the Associate Program Director of the Dental Anesthesia residency and also serves as an Attending in Anesthesiology in the Dental Anesthesiology, Advanced Education in General Dentistry, and Graduate Pediatric dental residencies.
Dr. Reed is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at The Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry and he serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Dentistry on the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Dr. Reed is a Past President of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (ADSA). He is a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology (ADBA) and serves on the Board of Directors of the ADBA as Secretary.

In 2018, he moved to UT Health at San Antonio where he is currently an Associate Professor of Periodontics, UTHSCA, San Antonio, TX and Chair of the ITI Scholarship Center. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and he holds the Roland Meffert Endowed Professorship in Implant Dentistry. He is a clinical researcher focusing on bone regeneration procedures in Implant surgery and Peri-implantitis Therapy. At UT Health San Antonio, he directs the NIH-funded Translational Periodontal Research Lab conducting research on the biological mechanisms underlying peri-implant bone loss and developing novel treatments for dental and biomedical implants. Dr. Kotsakis has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters with more than 17,000 citations of his work (h-index: 34). He is one of the few Dental researchers to have been published in prestigious medical publications, such as the Lancet, the BMJ and PNAS.
He has been the recipient of multiple career and research awards from the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Periodontology Foundation, the IADR, and other organizations. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor and as an Editorial review board member for multiple prestigious Dental journals. Dr. Kotsakis practices Periodontics in the UT Health San Antonio intramural clinics with a focus on treating implant complications and peri-implantitis. In 2018, Len cut down to practicing dentistry two days per week to focus additional time and attention on helping other dentists build broad and compelling online footprints that attract hundreds of new patients to their practices. In October 2021 he sold his dental practice but continues to provide his patients dental care 2 days per week while commuting from Parkland, Florida where he has resided since October 2020. In July 2022 Len announced his retirement from clinical practice effective December 2022.

Prior to joining VCU, Cooper served as associate dean for research and head of the Department of Oral Biology at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Dentistry. Here, he expanded research in regenerative sciences, innovative biomedical devices and translational studies evaluating the roles of a variety of biomarkers linked to cancer. Under Cooper’s leadership, the Department of Oral Biology at UIC served as a foundation for many of the basic science topics taught to the school’s D.M.D., M.S., and Ph.D. students. He continued his clinical activities as a prosthodontist by leading clinical studies and establishing the school’s Clinical Research Center.
Prior to UIC, Cooper served as program director of Advanced Prosthodontics and Stallings Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics (ACP) and a former ACP President, who received the ACP’s 2004 Clinician/Researcher Award. He was also named the recipient of the 2009 International Association for Dental Research Distinguished Scientist Award for Prosthodontics and Implantology.

In 2004 Dr. Cassai was Preceptor at the Endodontics Department of Loma Linda University (California). He attended Dr. M.Torabinejad’s ward, Dr. Cliff Ruddle’s course center, and Dr. Stephen Buchanan’s course center in Santa Barbara (California).
He lectured in courses and conventions both in Italy and abroad as a lecturer and he is the author of several publications in international scientific journals.
Dr. Cassai has been a visiting professor in Endodontology at the University of Ferrara (AY 2004-2010 and 2013-2018).
He is a gold member of Style Italiano Endodontics and co-author of the book “Retreatments” published by EDRA.
He works in private practice in Ferrara, particularly committed to clinical endodontics, microscopic surgery, and aesthetic restorative dentistry.
