Description:
This lecture is designed for dentists who are interested in dental stem cell banking and who would like to know how teeth and oral tissues can be generated using stem cells. Teeth and oral tissues may be generated from stem cells sourced from tooth buds, baby teeth, third molars, periodontal tissues, and induced pluripotent cells. In the future, dentists may be placing stem cells and tooth constructs instead of dental implants to replace missing teeth.
COURSE OUTLINE
OBJECTIVES
The learning objectives of the training program are to:
1. Discuss the types of stem cells that are available to be used by dentists to generate teeth and dental tissues.
2. Understand how stem cells can be used to generate new teeth for patients.
3. Review the protocols for collecting stem cells and generating new teeth for patients.
