Dr. Katsuhiko Akiyama maintains a private clinic in Yamanashi. He graduated from Tokyo Dental University, School of Dentistry and received his DDS in 1985.
• He received the case presentation award at ITI/Harvard Dental Implant Course in 2005.
• He has been an international member of A.A.P., an active member of Japan Association of Periodontist, Japan Clinical Periodontal Association, Japan Association of Microscope Dentistry and Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry.

Marc L. Alexander was born in Cape Town, South Africa and received his Bachelor of Science and Dental Degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 1985. He served as Director of South African Air Force Base Dental Clinic prior to joining as a partner in a private Dental Practice specializing in Prosthodontics and Periodontics in South Africa. In pursuit of specialization in Prosthodontics, together with his wife, Vivien, Dr. Alexander moved from South Africa to the United States. In 1996 he graduated with honors from the University of Southern California, Advanced Prosthodontics, and was awarded the Alex Koper Merit Scholarship for Excellence in Clinical Achievement. Upon completion of his Prosthodontic Studies, Dr. Alexander joined the Faculty of USC as Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry and Director of Occlusion (bite and function);Director of Treatment planning, and Director of all outside Laboratory services for USC. He currently continues as a part-time Associate Professor.
In May, 1999 Dr. Alexander began his current full-time private practice in Montecito, CA specializing in Prosthodontics. He is a Past-President of the Santa Barbara Interdisciplinary Esthetic Dental Network, and has lectured for the California Dental Association , University of Southern California, and Component Dental Societies on topics related to Prosthodontics, Esthetics and Occlusion. He is also published in peer reviewed Journals.
Dr. Alexander is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Prosthodontics, and Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Alexander is currently on the USC Faculty for Continuing Education of Dentists (Odontic Seminar). He resides in Montecito, California with his wife and three children.
Dr. Paul Anstey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He has lectured nationally and has served as a part-time faculty member and clinical lecturer at the UCLA School of Dentistry. He maintains a practice in Beverly Hills, California specializing in Micro-Endodontics and Implant Micro-Surgery.
Dr. Anstey completed his general dental training at the University of Stellenbosch, outside of Cape Town, South Africa in 1989. After six years in general practice, he went on to specialize in Endodontics at the University of Southern California. Dr. Anstey further extended his studies in Implantology at the University of California Los Angeles and then went on to the highest level of surgery with microsurgical and microimplantology training through the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry and the Microsurgical Training Institute.
His professional passion is to help improve the understanding across the dental specialties, as well as throughout the community, of what is realistically achievable, using the microscope and other technologies within the science of micro-endodontics and implant micro-surgery today.
Dr. Stephane Browet was born in 1972 in Asse, Belgium. Finished dental school at the Free University of Brussels in 1995 followed by a Post Graduate program Aesthetic Dentistry at the Free University of Brussels. Since then working in a private group practice in Brussels. Stephane is limited to restorative and prosthetic dentistry. He is nationally and internationally lecturing about rubberdam isolation, microscope dentistry, posterior composites, restorative dentistry,practice management.
Dr. David J Clark is the founder and a past President of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry. A 1986 graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry, he lectures and gives hands-on seminars internationally on a variety of topics related to the use of the operating microscope. He has developed numerous innovations in the fields of micro dental instrumentation, imaging, and dental operatory design. He recently published a new nomenclature and classification system for diagnosis and treatment of cracked teeth based on 16X magnification. He is a member of the ADA, an associate member of the AAE, a course director at the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, microscope consultant to the Clinical Research Associates, and maintains a microscope-centered restorative practice in Tacoma, Washington, USA.
Dr. Cami Ferris was raised in Newbury Park, California where she was Valedictorian and Athlete of the Year her senior year of high school. While attending UC Santa Barbara, where she obtained a degree in Biopsychology with High Honors, she worked as a chairside assistant in Dr. Terry Pannkuk's practice. She found endodontics to be fascinating and went on to obtain her doctoral degree at UC San Francisco School of Dentistry. Dr. Ferris completed her postgraduate endodontic training with Dr. Herbert Schilder at Boston University and she was fortunate to rejoin Dr. Pannkuk in private practice upon graduation in 2000. She has maintained her practice part-time while raising a family of three daughters. She also keeps busy training for triathalons, playing beach volleyball, and golfing with her husband, who is an endodontist in Lompoc.
Dr. Eudes Gondim received his masters degree and doctoral degree from the Endodontic Unit, School of Dentistry of Piracicaba, State University of Campinas-UNICAMP in 1999 and 2003 respectively. He has worked in private practice since 1992. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Endodontics of the University of Pennsylvania and the chief of Micro Endodontic Specialization Program- Sao Paulo Association of Dental Surgeons (APCD). President of the Brazilian Association of Microscope Dentistry-ABRAMO-SP. An international lecturer, his special interests are in topics related to conventional and surgical endodontics.
Dr. Jeffrey D. Hamilton Graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1976, followed by a Certificate of Completion, General Practice Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center (University of Minnesota) in 1977.

Maintains a private general dental practice in Olympia, WA and is a lifetime student of general dentistry and patient care with dental laboratory microscope experience since 1982 and clinical microscope since 2000.
Out of the office life includes wife, Lorraine, and family of five (ages 17-31). Also an active member in the National Ski Patrol (White Pass, WA) for 24 years teaching outdoor emergency care, avalanche, and mountain travel.
Dr. Eric Herbranson is co-founder and Executive Director of Brown & Herbranson Imaging, a company that develops dental and human anatomy education software. With over 30 years in practice, Dr. Herbranson is a dedicated clinical endodontist. He has made a significant contribution over the last 20 years as clinical assistant professor at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry where he lectures to students and special interest groups on endodontics, technology in dentistry, and microscope photography. Dr. Herbransonís study of physics and 40 years experience in film and digital imaging provide him with an educated understanding of macro and microphotography, and affords him a unique vision of endodontic education and image production. With his innovative approach and advanced imaging skills, Dr. Herbranson developed the unique processes and methodology for capturing images of human and dental anatomy now used as the basis for Brown & Herbranson Imagingís educational technology. Dr. Herbranson is the co-author of the chapter on tooth anatomy in Pathways of the Pulp, the topselling textbook on endodontics. Dr. Herbranson is a frequent speaker and educator at universities and conferences on the subjects of integration of new technology into dentistry, the use of software and computers in presentations, and surgical operation microscope photography. He is actively involved as a consultant in exotic animal dentistry for the Oakland Zoo. Dr. Herbranson earned a Bachelor of Science from La Sierra College, a Doctoral of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University,and a Masters of Science in Endodontics from Loma Linda University.
Dr. Tetsuya Hirata maintains a private practice in Osaka, Japan and studies on microdentistry and dental materials/devices at Osaka University. He received his DDS from Osaka Dental University in 1985 and received his PhD in Oromaxillofacial regeneration from Osaka University, Graduate School of Dentistry in 2002. He studied in the Department of Graduated Prosthodontics at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry from 1990 through 1991. He has served as the director for the Microscope Assisted Precision Dentistry course, a microdentistry training course of microprosthodontics, microendodontics, microperiodontics / microsurgery / plastic surgery, and restorative microdentistry in Japan since 1996. Dr.Hirata published and presented on dental CAD/CAM systems, microdentistry, titanium dental prostheses, and TMD. Markus B. HŁrzeler (DMD,PhD) received his dental degree from the University of Zurich, his certificate as a specialist in Periodontics from the Swiss Society of Periodontology, the Docent (Associate Professor) degree from the Department of Prosthodontics at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, and his certificate in Prosthodontics from the German Society of Prosthodontics.
He is Clinical Associate Professor at the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Department of the Operative Dentistry and Periodontology and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas.
Dr. HŁrzeler has produced more than 100 scientific publications within the field of implants, periodontology and tissue regeneration and is a regular national and international lecturer. He maintains a private practice focused on periodontics and implant dentistry in Munich, Germany.

Dr. Jannetta is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the pathology and treatment of cranial nerve compression syndromes. He developed a microvascular decompression procedure that has become the standard of surgical care worldwide for successful treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, spasmodic torticollis and neurogenic hypertension. He has authored over 280 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Jannetta is active in many professional and scientific organizations and has earned several of his fieldís most prestigious awards, including the Olivecrona Award from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, the Fedor Krause Medal from the German Neurosurgical Society and the Zulich Prize for medical research from the Max Planck Society. Dr. Jannetta is currently the Director of the Peter J. Jannetta Cranial Nerve Disorder Clinic at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Kazuo Kurihara graduated Nihon Dental University in 1992 and received his DDS. He received his PhD. in Anatomy from Nihon Dental University in 1999. He is maintaining his private office in Saitama, Japan since 2001 and is maintaining Tokyo branch since 2003. He is an active member of Japan Society of Anatomy, Japan Association of Oral Implantology, Japan Association of Esthetic Dentistry and S.J.C.D. Tokyo.
Dr. Te-Fu Li received his D.D.S. from School of Dentistry, Taipei Medical University in 1986. From 1992 to 1995, he pursued graduate study in the Post-Doctoral Program of Periodontal Prosthesis and Implantology at School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and received certificates of dual specialties in both Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis. Currently, he maintains a full-time private practice in Taipei, and is actively involved in teaching at several dental schools in Taiwan. Dr. Li is active members of the Academy of Osseointegration and the European Association of Osseointegration. In Taiwan, he is a pioneer in the field of Microscopic Dentistry and is exclusively devoted to Non-Surgical Micro-Periodontics and Micro-Invasive Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Kunio Matsumoto graduated Nihon University, School of Dentistry at Matsudo in 1986 and received his DDS. He is maintaing his private clinic in Tokyo, Japan since 1992. He is a board of S.J.C.D. Tokyo and an active member of Japan Society of Clinical Periodontology.
Dr. Adriana McGregor holds dual degrees in Periodontology, the most recent from the University of Southern California in 1994, where she served on the faculty as a clinical instructor from 1990 to 1994. Her interest in Microsurgery began at the dawn of the subspecialty, training under Dr. Dennis Shanelec at the Microsurgery Training Institute in 1994 where she is now the Co-Instructor. She lectures Internationally on Periodontal & Implant Microsurgery. She has contributed to AMED as Hands-on Instructor, Lecturer, Member of the Board of Directors, Twice Co-Chair of the Scientific Program and 2010 President. She maintains a private practice in Westlake Village, California devoted exclusively to Periodontal, Esthetic and Implant Microsurgery.
Dr. Assad F. Mora is a board-certified prosthodontist with a full-time “Restorative Microdentistry” practice in Santa Barbara. He is a graduate of Indiana University with both DDS and MSD degrees. He is a pioneer in the field of Restorative Microdentistry and has been active in developing and inventing more user-friendly technology for microdentistry since 1992. In 1998, He pioneered a new era in visualization technology to view a magnified operating field without looking directly into the microscope. He introduced the use of stereo 3D video technology for viewing the operating field in real time while performing clinical dental procedure. This technology quadruples the effective magnification while maintaining a wide field of view, and brings postural comfort while expanding the range of visual accessibility to areas of the mouth that were extremely difficult, or near impossible, to access using the binoculars on a microscope. He has given presentations to numerous groups nationally and internationally. He is a contributor to the dental and patent literatures, and founder of the Institute of Microdentistry.
Dr. Jose Roberto Moura Graduated from the University of Taubate, Brazil in 1983; received a Specialty Degree in Restorative Dentistry, and a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics. He was President of the Brazilian Society of Aesthetic Dentistry for the years 1999-2000, and 2002-2003. He is currently Vice President of the Executive Council of the International Federation Of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Lloyd Nattkemper maintains a full-time practice in periodontics, periodontal microsurgery and implantology in Monterey, California, where he has practiced since 1989. He is a 1983 graduate of the UCSF School of Dentistry, completed residencies in general practice and periodontics at the West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center, and practiced in Santa Rosa, California until 1988. Dr. Nattkemper has taught in the undergraduate periodontal department at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry from 1986 to 1995, at the Cabrillo College School of Dental Hygiene since 1995, and has recently joined the faculty at the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute. He has used the operating microscope in his practice since 1996 in the majority of his surgical procedures. Dr. Nattkemper is currently serving as President of the Monterey Bay Dental Society.

Dr. Terrell Pannkuk a native of California, graduated from U.C.L.A. with a degree in Biology, Georgetown Dental School with a D.D.S., and Boston University with an M.Sc.D. in Endodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, former editor and publisher of "The Endodontic Report", former president of the Boston University Endodontic Alumni Association, current reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics (official journal of the American Association of Endodontists), and international lecturer-author of topics relating to clinical endodontics. He enjoys golf, fishing, and activities with his wife and two sons. His wife Diane is very active in Santa Barbara and both Dr. Pannkuk and his wife are strongly committed to community involvement and charity.
Dr. Paul K. Piontkowski is a restorative dentist with prosthetic/advanced TMJ training from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1984. Dr. Piontkowski has published numerous articles on microscopic techniques and principles, lectures extensively on the subject and is the inventor of the first head-mounted ultra-light, compact, surgical microscope. He has been a Cerec user for over a decade and has developed some novel techniques to maximize the sophistication of CAD/CAM technology with microscopic principles.
Dr. Delane Maria Rêgo has practiced periodontics for 15 years in Natal, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. She received her dental degree from UFRN ( Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte ) , PhD in Periodontics at the School of Dentistry of Araraquara, Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1996. She is a professor of UFRN and a lecture in ABO ( Braziliam Dental Association ) in others states of Brazil and countries.
Dr. Laurence R. Rifkin practices dentistry in Beverly Hills, California, with a focus on Dento-Facial Aesthetics and Comprehensive Periodontal-Implant Rehabilitation. Dr. Rifkin graduated USC School of Dentistry in 1976 where he received his dental degree.
As an international lecturer, Dr. Rifkin has spoken to numerous dental and cosmetic surgery academies on various topics such as: Team Approach to Comprehensive Facial Beauty, Natural Beauty for Teeth and Implants, Microscopic Dentistry, and Complete Mouth Rehabilitation.

Dr. Clifford J. Ruddle is Founder and Director of Advanced Endodontics, an international educational source, in Santa Barbara, California. Additionally, he maintains teaching positions at various dental schools, is a Fellow in both the American and International Colleges of Dentistry, and has authored numerous articles and chapters for leading textbooks. As an inventor, Dr. Ruddle has designed and developed several instruments and devices that are widely used internationally. Dr. Dennis A. Shanelec completed his periodontal training at the USC. He introduced microsurgery to Periodontics in 1992 and has published and lectured on the importance of the microscope in achieving dental excellence. Former president of the California Society of Periodontists, he is recognized as an authority on clinical magnification and founder of the sub-specialty of periodontal microsurgery. Dr. Shanelec was the first dentist chosen for membership in the Society of Microsurgical Specialists. He directs the Microsurgical Training Institute of Santa Barbara and maintains a practice of Periodontics in Santa Barbara.
Dr. Cherylin Sheets maintains a full-time private practice in Newport Beach, California for esthetic rehabilitative dentistry. She is an international educator, clinician, author and lecturer, and received the 2002 Gordon Christensen Award for Excellence in Lecturing, the 2004 USC School of Dentistry Alumnus of the Year Award, and the 2006 Section Honor Award (Distinguished Dentist Award) from the California Section of the Pierre Fauchard International Honor Dental Academy, and the 2008 Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund Award. She is a past president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the American Association of Women Dentists.
Dr. Sheets is Co-Executive Director of the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, a Clinical Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Southern California, Chairman Emeritus of The Childrenís Dental Center, and Founding Chairman of the National Childrenís Oral Health Foundation. With the University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Engineering, she is leading research on energy dissipation in teeth and implants with James C. Earthman, Ph.D.
Dr. Randy Shoup graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1981. He served in the U.S. Public Health Service for 3 years in Cairo Illinois. In 1984 he moved to Indianapolis and started a private practice focusing on high technology and cosmetic dentistry. In 1986 he was the very first owner of an intra oral camera.
Over the years Dr. Shoup has refined his practice to be a very efficient model of delivery of comprehensive dentistry with a focus on cosmetic and implant reconstruction. Over the past 15 years Dr. Shoup has focused on the ITI implant system. Dr. Shoup lectures for the ADA on minimally invasive dentistry techniques and presents study club programs for Straumann/ITI on implant treatment planning and restoration.
Dr. Shoup is a member of numerous organizations such as ADA, AACD, AGD, AID, and many others.
Dr. Malcolm L. Snead It was in the last century that Malcolm Snead received his bachelor of science degree from St. Maryís College of California, his D.D.S. from Loyola University of Chicago, the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, as well as being trained in Oral Pathology at the University of Chicago, the Zoller Dental Clinic and earning a PhD degree in pathology from the University of Chicago. He has been practicing diagnostic dental medicine and science since the first gene was cloned, the first stem cell isolated and the human genome decoded. He was 33 before his first real job, a delay for which he is very proud.
Dr. Snead is interested in developmental biology and the molecular continuation between an altered developmental pathways and the development of a disease state. For similar reasons of relatedness, he pursues cell renewal and regeneration based on principals gleaned from developmental. His other major research interests lies in the area of biomineralization, where he is interested in the role of protein-to-protein interactions that guide the assembly of an extracellular matrix that is competent to direct mineral deposition. He is working towards understanding the formation of the dentine enamel junction using genetic approaches. Finally, Dr. Snead is interested in the chemical sense of taste and the role of salivary proteins in taste transduction. Dr. Snead is presently funded by the National Institutes of Health with multiple RO1 investigator initiated grants. Dr. Snead is the principal investigator on a multi-school training program involving the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy and the College capitalizes on the research excellence available throughout the USC biomedical enterprise used to train the next generation of biomedical researchers. He has been awarded a prestigious MERIT award to extend time in research from the NIDCR, NIH. Recently he was awarded a Fulbright Specialist Award to work at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
Dr. Snead served as a ad hoc member of several National Institutes of Health (NIH) study section panels as well as being a chartered member of another study panel. He presently serves a member of the Council of the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).
Dr. Snead teaches in the doctoral program of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC. He is among the cadre of creators for the Problem Base Learning (PBL) program. He is also appointed in other USC schools. He has served as the Schoolís Associate Dean for Innovation and Discovery. At the University level, he has served on the Provostís Advisory Panel for Research Advancement, as the Chair of the University Committee on Academic Probation and Tenure and as the Co-Chair of the Academic Leadership Committee.
Dr. Glenn van As graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987 and has been in general practice since then. In addition, he was an assistant clinical professor at U.B.C. from 1989-99. He has published numerous articles and traveled extensively throughout North America lecturing and training dentists in hands on workshops on the benefits of utilizing both surgical operating microscopes and multiple wavelengths of lasers in general practice. He has accumulated a wealth of multimedia microdigital photography and videography that make his powerpoint presentation enlightening and entertaining. He was past presidnet of AMED in 2005. Dr. van As lives in Deep Cove, British Columbia with his wife Lee-Ann and their 2 children.
Dr. John West is founder and director of the CENTER FOR ENDODONTICS™ “Pioneering New Possibilities in Endodontics” in Tacoma, Washington. He currently serves as a trustee of the American Association of Endodontists Foundation, has served on the Educational Affairs Committee and Committee on Dental Care and Clinical Practice for the AAE, and is an international lecturer and teacher.
Dr. West is a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the International College of Dentists. Dr. West is an editorial board member of The Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and scientific editor for Boston University’s Communiquè.
He is Affiliate Associate Professor at the University of Washington Graduate Endodontic Program and Clinical Instructor at Boston University, Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he received his MSD in endodontics as well as earning the 1995 Distinguished Alumni Award.
He is senior author of “Cleaning and Shaping the Root Canal System” in Cohen and Burns’ 1994 and 1998 Pathways of the Pulp, is a contributing author to the 1995 edition of Goldstein and Garber’s Complete Dental Bleaching, and co-authored “Obturation of the Radicular Space” with Dr. John Ingle, in Ingle’s 1994 and 2002 editions of Endodontics.
Dr. West has presented over 400 days of continuing endodontic education in North America and Europe. Dr. West continues to be recognized as one of the premier educators in clinical and comprehensive endodontics in the world today. Dr. West maintains a private practice in Tacoma, Washington.
