Dr. Masao Yamazaki (Keynote Speaker) graduated Tokyo Dental University in 1970 and received his DDS. He maintains his private clinic in Harajuku, Tokyo and this March he opened his new office in Shibuya, Tokyo. He is the C.O.E. of Society of Japan Clinical Dentistry International (S.J.C.D. International). He lectured all over the world and published many books and articles.

Dr. Dennis A. Shanelec has practiced periodontics for thirty years in Santa Barbara and Solvang, California. He has pioneered periodontal and implant microsurgery, founding the Microsurgery Training Institute in Santa Barbara, California to provide clinical training in microsurgery. Internationally, he is recognized as an authority on magnification in dentistry and regarded as the founder of the field of periodontal microsurgery. He has served on the board of directors of both the Western Society of Periodontology and the California Society of Periodontists, serving as president of the California Society of Periodontists in 1988. He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Dentistry and completed his periodontal training at the University of Southern California. He and his wife Suzanne live in Santa Barbara. He is the 2005 recipient of AMED's Master of Innovation award.

Dr. Seung-Ho Baek, DDS, MSD, PhD received his DDS from the Seoul National University in 1982. Also he received his MSD and PhD degree from Graduate School of Dentistry, Seoul National University in 1985, 1991. From 1982 to 1985, he trained and received certificates in the Conservative Dentistry, Seoul National University. From 1992 to 1995, he trained and received certificates in the Post-Doctoral Program of Endodontics at School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Claudia Cia Worchech maintains a full time private practice dedicated to oral rehabilitation and esthetics in Americana, near to São Paulo – Brazil.

Dr. Bernard Dahan
completed his Dental Degree in 1976 at the TOULOUSE University of Dental Surgery in FRANCE. After having the honor of being the Laureate of the University, he obtained his Perio License in 1978 at MARSEILLE University. In 1980, Dr. Dahan emigrated to ISRAEL and in 1984 then spent a sabbatic year at BOSTON, USA with two of his mentors: Dr G. Kramer and Dr M. Nevins.
Dr. Dahan is a well known lecturer in Israel and has lectured around the world. Dr. Dahan is a member of: The Israeli Association of Periodontology and Osseo Integration, The Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, The American Academy of Periodontology and The European Federation of Periodontology.
In 1985, Dr. Dahan created a Dental Office in Haifa, Israel specializing exclusively in Periodontics and Implantology, in which three Periodontists and an Adult Orthodontist are working as a team, with a clear orientation for Esthetic Implantology. Dr. Gondim receive his masters degree and doctoral degree from the Endodontic Unit, School of Dentistry of Piracicaba, State University of Campinas-UNICAMP in 1999 and 2003 respectively. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Endodontics of the University of Pennsylvania and the chief of Endodontic Specialization Program- Sao Paulo Association of Dental Surgeons (APCD). Dr. Toyohiko Hidaka maintains his full-time private practice in Kanagawa, Japan from 1986 and studies Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Tsurumi University, School of Dental Medicine from 1993. He received his DDS from Tsurumi University, School of Dental Medicine in 1982. Dr. Denis Honegger graduated in 1974 at the Dental School, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva and stayed 3 years
in the prosthodontic department and cariology department as a clinical assistant.
He received his Doctor degree with Prof L.-J.Baume in 1979.
For 30 years he has been running a private practice in Versoix, near Geneva.
He began to work with the microscope, full time since 1999. He is fascinated by this approach and is internationally lecturing about microscopic dentistry to share the advantages of this technique.
He is member of the SSO ( Swiss Society of Odontology ) SSRD ( Swiss Society for Recontructive Dentistry) and is currently member of the comity of the SSE (Swiss Society of Endodont )
Dr. Hideaki Katsuyama graduated Kyushu University and received DDS in 1987. He received clinical training from 1987 to 1991 in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Kyushu University Hospital. He also devoted himself to research in the field of vascular smooth muscle in the Department of Pharmacology, Kyushu University. From 1991 to 1993, he served as a research fellow in Cardiovascular Division, Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He published several works in major international journals about Ca-independent cell regulation mechanisms utilizing single isolated smooth muscle cells. Currently, he is the director of Center of Implant Dentistry (CID) Japan in Yokohama, Japan. In 2007, he was elected as a board member of International Team for Implantology (ITI).
Dr. William Lannan is a 1972 graduate of the University of Southern California and has maintained a private practice of general dentistry in Santa Barbara, California since then. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Santa Barbara/Ventura County Dental Society in which he has been through the chairs culminating in the Presidency. He served three terms on the Examining Committee of the State of California Board of Dentistry and has received numerous awards for dental journalism. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
He has been involved in many study groups in his career including ten years with Dr. Charles Stuart's gnathology group and Dr.Terry Tanaka's TMJ and Pain residency.
Currently, he is the Chairman of the Cornelia Moore Dental Foundation that renders dental treatment to indigent children, as he has for the past thirty years. He is also the current Secretary/Treasurer of AMED.
Dr. Te-Fu Li received his D.D.S. from School of Dentistry, Taipei Medical University in 1986. From 1992 to 1995, he pursued graduate study in the Post-Doctoral Program of Periodontal Prosthesis and Implantology at School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and received certificates of dual specialties in both Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis. Currently, he maintains a full-time private practice in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Li is active members of the Academy of Osseointegration and European Association of Osseointegration. He is actively involved in teaching at several dental schools in Taiwan and serves as a senior consultant and lecturer for Biomet 3i Implant System. In Taiwan, he is a pioneer in the field of Microscopic Dentistry and is exclusively devoted to Non-Surgical Micro-Periodontics and Micro-Invasive Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Cláudio Julio Lopes graduated in 1989 at the Universidade Cidade de São Paulo Dental School and has specialized in Periodontics since 1991. He is Assistant Professor of Periodontal Microsurgery at São Paulo Dental Association and Coordinator of the Periodontal Plastic Surgery Course at São Paulo Dental Association as well as Head of the São Paulo Dental Association Operative Microscope Department.
Dr. S. Mahalaxmi completed her BDS & MDS from Gujarat University, India in the year 1987. She has been in private practice since then. She joined academics as a senior lecturer in the year 1994. She is currently heading the department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics at SRM Dental College, Chennai, India since 2006.
Has keen interest in Endodontics, Occlusion, Full mouth Rehabilitation, complex restorations, composite resin restorations, use of soft tissue lasers, etc. She has lectured nationally at various forums. She is the first dentist to use a scope extensively in her practice in Chennai, India for the past more than one year.
She has developed a keen interest in Nano materials used in dentistry, as most of the materials used in Dentistry are bio materials. She is currently the President of the Federation of Operative Dentistry of India, a specialty association of Endodontists and executive member of the Indian Endodontic Society. She is also a member of the American Association of Endodontists and the Society for Biomaterials.
Dr. Kazuhisa Matsumoto graduated School of Dentistry, Hokkaido Medical University and received his DDS in 1993. Since 2001 he has been maintained his private clinic in Hokkaido. He is a vice president of SJCD Hokkaido branch, an instructor of Micro Surgery Training Institute Japan, a councilor of JAMD, a recognized instructor of Carl Zeiss Meditech, and an active member of Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Adriana McGregor holds dual degrees in Periodontology, the most recent from the University of Southern California in 1994, where she served on the faculty as a clinical instructor from 1990 to 1994. Her interest in Microsurgery began at the dawn of the subspecialty, training under Dr. Dennis Shanelec at the Microsurgery Training Institute in 1994 where she is now the Co-Instructor. She lectures Internationally on Periodontal & Implant Microsurgery. She has contributed to AMED as Hands-on Instructor, Lecturer, Member of the Board of Directors, Twice Co-Chair of the Scientific Program and 2008 President. She maintains a private practice in Westlake Village, California devoted exclusively to Periodontal, Esthetic and Implant Microsurgery.
Dr. Toshihisa Matsukawa graduated Osaka Dental University in 1990 and received his DDS. Since 2001 he has been maintained his private clinic in Nara and Microsurgery Training Institute Japan. He is a vice president of SJCD Osaka branch and a councilor of JAMD.
Dr. Masahiro Minami graduated and received his D.D.S. from Osaka Dental University, School of Dentistry in 1986. He maintains his private clinic in Osaka from 1993. He received his Ph.D. from Osaka Dental University, Graduate School of Dentistry in 1998. He is a president of SJCD Osaka, an active member of AAP, a director of Osteointegration Japan, a councilor of Japan Academy of Microscopic Dentistry, etc. He is publishing and lecturing internationally.
Dr. Jun Mitsuhashi received his DDS from Niigata University, Graduate School of Dentistry in 1989. He has practiced at two private clinics in Tokyo and in Niigata at the same time. He maintains a full-time private practice in Tokyo from 2000 just after he was introduced to dental operative microscopes. Dr.Mitsuhashi lectured microdentistry at the 10th annual meeting for the Japanese Association of Endodontics.
Dr. Assad F. Mora is a board-certified prosthodontist with a full-time “Restorative Microdentistry” practice in Santa Barbara. He is a graduate of Indiana University with both DDS and MSD degrees. He is a pioneer in the field of Restorative Microdentistry and has been active in developing and inventing more user-friendly technology for microdentistry since 1992. In 1998, He pioneered a new era in visualization technology to view a magnified operating field without looking directly into the microscope. He introduced the use of stereo 3D video technology for viewing the operating field in real time while performing clinical dental procedure. This technology quadruples the effective magnification while maintaining a wide field of view, and brings postural comfort while expanding the range of visual accessibility to areas of the mouth that were extremely difficult, or near impossible, to access using the binoculars on a microscope. He has given presentations to numerous groups nationally and internationally. He is a contributor to the dental and patent literatures, and founder of the Institute of Microdentistry. He served as President of AMED in 2007, and received the Master of Innovation award in 2008.
Dr. Jose Roberto Moura Graduated from the University of Taubate, Brazil in 1983; received a Specialty Degree in Restorative Dentistry, and a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics. He was President of the Brazilian Society of Aesthetic Dentistry for the years 1999-2000, and 2002-2003. He is currently Vice President of the Executive Council of the International Federation Of Esthetic Dentistry. He maintains a private practice in Taubate, Brazil since 1983, and has focused in microscope enhanced dentitry since 1998.
Dr. Shigeyuki Nagai received his DDS from the Osaka Dental University, Japan in 1987. He studied at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Department of Operative Dentistry as a Clinical Fellow from1989 to 1992. During that period, he had practiced clinical dentistry at the Massachusetts Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1990,and the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in 1991. Dr Nagai has published and lectured about Operative Dentistry, Adhesive Dentistry, Esthetic Dentistry, Laser Dentistry, and Microscope Dentistry. He has maintained a full-time practice in Tokyo.

Dr. George Sirtes graduated and received his doctorate from the University of Bern. Since 2000, he has maintained a private practice in Zurich which focuses on endodontics and microsurgery. Dr. Nobuyuki Tani-Ishii received his dental degree from Kanagawa Dental College, Japan in 1983. Dr. Glenn van As graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987 and has been in general practice since then. In addition, he was an assistant clinical professor at U.B.C. from 1989-99. He has published numerous articles and traveled extensively throughout North America lecturing and training dentists in hands on workshops on the benefits of utilizing both surgical operating microscopes and multiple wavelengths of lasers in general practice. He has accumulated a wealth of multimedia microdigital photography and videography that make his powerpoint presentation enlightening and entertaining. He was past president of AMED in 2005. Dr. van As lives in Deep Cove, British Columbia with his wife Lee-Ann and their 2 children.
Dr. Philippe van Audenhove runs a private general practice in Dessel, Belgium since graduating from Leuven University in 1982. His office focuses on ergonomic four-handed dentistry. He attended postgraduate courses both in Belgium and abroad in all dental disciplines. From 2000 till 2002 he was part-time lecturer at HIVSET institute in Turnhout, in the first Flemish training program for dental assistants. In his office he works with the operating microscope since 2003, being AMED-participant since 2004 and AMED-member since 2005. He is founding member of the European Society of Microscope Dentistry (ESMD) and actually ESMD President.
Dr. John West is founder and director of the CENTER FOR ENDODONTICS™ “Pioneering New Possibilities in Endodontics” in Tacoma, Washington. He currently serves as a trustee of the American Association of Endodontists Foundation, has served on the Educational Affairs Committee and Committee on Dental Care and Clinical Practice for the AAE, and is an international lecturer and teacher.
Dr. West is a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the International College of Dentists. Dr. West is an editorial board member of The Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and scientific editor for Boston University’s Communiquè.

Dr. Itaru Yoshida had graduated and received his DDS from Nippon Dental Univ., Niigata branch, in 1985. He is maintaining his private clinic in Tokyo, Japan from 1997.
